Community Race Events

Community Race Events are scheduled, open-entry typing races that put everyone in the same lobby at the same time. Unlike regular multiplayer where you race a small group of 2–6, events are open to as many players as want to join — making them the closest thing to a tournament on KeyDuel. Anyone can enter. No sign-up beyond a free account required.

Weekly Race

The flagship community event is the Weekly Race, held every Sunday at 7pm UTC. The lobby opens 15 minutes before the start time — join early to see who else is competing. At 7pm the race starts simultaneously for all participants. One passage, one start, everyone racing together. Results and rankings are posted to the event leaderboard immediately after.

How Events Work

  • Events are announced on the Events page ahead of time with the date, time, and format
  • Join the lobby before the start time — late entries may not make the main race
  • All participants type the same passage, starting at the same server-synchronised moment
  • Live progress is shown for all racers simultaneously
  • Final standings are ranked by WPM with accuracy as a tiebreaker
  • Results and personal statistics are saved to your profile

Why Events Matter

Regular multiplayer pairs you with whoever else happens to be in the queue — you might race two people, you might race six. Events create a consistent, large-scale benchmark: the same passage, the same start time, the same pool of motivated competitors. Your event results are the most comparable data point for measuring your progress over weeks and months.

Upcoming Events

Check the Events page for the current schedule. Special events — themed races, longer passages, sprint formats — are added periodically alongside the weekly recurring race. All events are free to enter with a KeyDuel account.
