Type Tower — Tetris-Style Typing Game
Type Tower combines the spatial pressure of Tetris with typing skill. Letter tiles fall from the top of the screen and stack at the bottom. Type any valid word you can see formed in the stack to clear those tiles. Clear tiles before the tower reaches the top. The higher the tower grows, the more urgent the typing becomes. A genuinely original typing game that plays differently from anything else on KeyDuel.
How to Play Type Tower
Letter tiles fall one by one and accumulate in the play area. Scan the visible tiles for valid English words — horizontal, vertical, or in sequence — and type them to remove those tiles from the tower. Successfully typed words clear the corresponding tiles, lowering the tower. Fail to keep up and the tiles will stack to the top, ending the game. The longer you survive and the more tiles you clear, the higher your score.
Scoring
- Longer words clear more tiles and score proportionally more points
- Clearing tiles low in the stack before they're buried earns positional bonuses
- Consecutive word clears within a short time window earn combo multipliers
- Clearing all tiles from the visible area earns a board-clear bonus
Strategy
- Prioritise the tiles nearest the bottom — once tiles are buried they're harder to reach
- Look for common 3-letter words first for quick clearance, then longer ones for bigger scores
- Keep peripheral awareness of the tower height — don't fixate on one area while another grows
- Common 3-letter words to spot quickly: THE, AND, FOR, ARE, HAS, NOT, BUT, CAN, ONE, YOU
Why Type Tower Is Different
Most typing games test how fast you can transcribe text you're shown. Type Tower tests something harder: pattern recognition under time pressure. You have to simultaneously read a chaotic grid of letters, identify valid words, type them accurately, and manage spatial awareness of the growing tower. It's a multi-skill challenge that rewards both vocabulary breadth and typing speed in equal measure.
