TypeDef is a daily word puzzle where you're given five definitions to solve. Each definition has one correct answer. The first letter of each answer, read in order, spells a secret five-letter word. Solve all five definitions, reveal the hidden word, and complete today's TypeDef. A fresh puzzle every day.

How to Play TypeDef

• Five definitions are shown, one per row
• For each definition, type the word that matches it and press Enter
• Correct answers are confirmed and their first letter is revealed in the secret word below
• Solve all five definitions to complete the puzzle — the revealed letters spell the hidden word
• You can solve the definitions in any order — use known answers to guess unknown ones

The Secret Word Mechanic

The five definitions aren't chosen randomly — they're selected so that the initial letters of their answers spell out a specific secret word. This means there's a double layer of puzzle: solving each individual definition AND deducing the hidden word from partial initial letters as you go. If you've solved three definitions and can see three initials, you can sometimes infer the secret word and use that knowledge to check your remaining answers.

Tips for Solving TypeDef

• Read all five definitions before attempting any — easier ones will come to mind immediately
• Use the revealed initial letters as cross-clues once you've answered a few definitions
• If a definition is stumping you, skip it and return once you have more initial letters revealed
• Definitions often use formal or dictionary-style language — think of it as the exact phrasing a dictionary would use
• The secret word is always a common English word — use this to sanity-check your answers
