Word Assault — Typing Arcade Game

Word Assault is a fast-paced typing arcade game where waves of words descend toward your base. Type each word correctly to destroy it before it reaches the bottom. Miss one and it breaches your defences. The waves get faster, the words get harder, and the pressure builds — it's the most intense way to practise typing on KeyDuel.

How to Play Word Assault

Words appear at the top of the screen and slowly move downward. Click on a word or start typing its first letter to target it, then type the full word to destroy it. If a word reaches the bottom before you finish it, you lose a life. You have three lives. Survive as many waves as you can and score as many points as possible before the swarm overwhelms you.

Scoring

  • Longer words score more points than short ones
  • Destroying words quickly before they travel far earns a speed bonus
  • Completing a full wave without any breach earns a wave clear bonus
  • Maintaining a streak of consecutive successful words multiplies your score

Why It Works for Typing Practice

Word Assault trains a specific skill that regular typing tests don't: rapid word identification and target switching. In a standard typing test you type one continuous passage — your eyes always know what's coming next. In Word Assault you have to scan the screen, identify the most urgent word, and switch targets constantly. This builds a different kind of typing reflex that translates directly into better performance under competitive pressure.

Difficulty Progression

  • Early waves use short, common words at a slow descent speed
  • Later waves introduce longer, less common words moving faster
  • Multiple words can be active simultaneously, requiring quick target decisions
  • Difficulty scales continuously — there's no cap, so top scores require sustained accuracy at extreme speed
