How to Play Wordle

• Type any valid 5-letter English word as your first guess and press Enter
• Green tiles — the letter is correct and in the right position
• Yellow tiles — the letter is in the word but in the wrong position
• Grey tiles — the letter does not appear in the word at all
• Use the feedback from each guess to eliminate possibilities and zero in on the answer
• Solve in 6 or fewer guesses to complete the daily puzzle

Wordle Strategy

Strong opening words cover as many common letters as possible. Good Wordle openers include CRANE, SLATE, AUDIO, RAISE, and STARE — they combine common consonants with multiple vowels, maximising the information you get from the first guess. Avoid opening with words that repeat letters.

• Use all your information — don't repeat grey letters in subsequent guesses
• Move yellow letters to new positions — don't put them back where they were
• Narrow the vowels early — most 5-letter words contain 1–3 vowels
• Save hard mode for a challenge — it forces you to use confirmed letters in every subsequent guess
