WordLinks — Free Daily Word Grouping Game
WordLinks presents sixteen words and one challenge: sort them into four groups of four, where every word in a group shares a hidden connection. The connections are never just category names — they're wordplay, hidden meanings, surprising patterns, or unexpected links. Find all four groups to complete the daily puzzle. A new WordLinks resets every day.
How to Play WordLinks
- Sixteen words are shown in a grid
- Select four words you believe share a connection and press Submit
- Correct groups are confirmed and removed from the grid, revealing their connection label
- Incorrect guesses use up a mistake — you have a limited number before the game ends
- Keep solving until all four groups are found
Types of Connections
WordLinks connections range from straightforward to genuinely tricky. Some examples of connection types:
- Things that can follow or precede a specific word (e.g. all can precede "ball")
- Members of a category that isn't named (e.g. types of pasta, but the category is just called "Italian shapes")
- Words with a shared double meaning or wordplay element
- Cultural references — bands, films, phrases — where one word is the odd one out
- Words that can all follow or precede a colour, animal, or number
Tips for Solving WordLinks
- Look for the most obvious group first to clear the board and reveal what's left
- Watch out for red herrings — a word that seems to belong to one group might actually anchor another
- Think about multiple meanings for each word — double meanings are a common WordLinks trick
- If you're stuck, eliminate what you're most confident about first to shrink the problem
- Save your hardest group for last — once the other three are confirmed, the fourth resolves automatically
